What are hardwood floor repairs?
For deep gouges or dents, you can use a wood floor filler and wood stain to repair the damaged area. Before applying the filler, tape off the damaged area so you don't accidentally apply filler where it doesn't belong. Mix equal parts of the epoxy-based filler and apply to the gouge with a putty knife. Allow to dry.
Our hardwood floor repair process
Generally, when we do a rip our and repair, we are doing this prior to sanding your entire floor. The reason you need to fully sand is that when a new board is installed and matched to an old board, they sometimes vary in color and height. In order to get the repair to blend it, it needs to be flattened (sanded), and re stained with the rest of the floor.
In the case of a more superficial, smaller blemish, we can sometimes employ the use of a hard wax. These waxes are melted into the area of concern. We have a variety of colors to use and can even use the fine tipped markers in our kit to mimic grain patterns.
This that need to be repaired/refinished:
1) Black Moisure Marks, which comes from spilled liquids
2) PET STAINS
3) Deep Scratches or Gouges (especially in Pine)
